Seekers of Dust

Seekers of Dust is a nature documentary that is experimental in its form and focus. Instead of a conventional approach to documenting the behaviour of bees, I wanted to experiment with their space and perspective of the world. By using a dioptre I created a very shallow depth of field, trying and make the point of focus as small as possible, and create a microcosm in tune with the bee’s. This meant I could draw a viewers eyes to very fine details and specific behaviours of the bees. The Score was made by layering a chord progression of strings, which I fed through a timeslip guitar pedal. This allowed me manually control the speed and time of the slip and create a choppy, fluttering effect that would resemble and convey the movement of the bees.
